THE FOUNDERS
Jeff and Gally Dakers

The Hope Centre was established in October 2007, however, senior ministers Jeff and Gally Dakers have been working with the most disadvantaged members of our community for the past 13 years.

Jeff is a former Police Officer and Community  Services Officer (Probation and Parole).

Together they have an extensive background in dealing with people who have life controlling addictions along with assessment and referral of people with addictions to rehabilitation centres with a sucess rate of over 85%. This is also followed up with helping to educate and support the family and friends of addicts.

They have over 10 years experience in feeding and clothing the poor, often opening the doors to their own home to help people who are in desperate need.

The House of Hope Food Barn is the result of their passion and determination in feeding people who are struggling to manage due to financial contraints and social disadvantage. The Food Barn commenced operations in October 2007 and it has seen a big change to the way donated food is distributed in the Illawarra.
